Training facility completed for Forsyth Fire Department

The paint smells fresh, the walls are gleaming white and the carpeting remains show room clean in an arena of dirty boots. Forsyth Fire Station Two is ready for training and emergency operations to begin. Much of the work was done by the volunteer firemen themselves with financial support coming from community donations and general revenue funds. You might think the “suits” wondering around city hall in Branson Thursday was nothing unusual, but they were important people. The city served as “Capital For a Day” for the state of Missouri, and Governor Matt Blunt was the featured guest. Thirteen grads find their passion in Step Up program

The Taney County Neighborhood Center is pleased to announce its first graduating class in the Step Up to Leadership Program, designed for income eligible, community-minded people who want to make a difference. This program was presented as a partnership between Stone and Taney County OACAC Neighborhood Centers, University of Missouri Extension, and the Missouri Small Business Development Centers. Repeal of village law on its way to the governor

It may or may not “take a village to raise a child,” but a village can be defined as a one-person dwelling in Missouri due to a controversial bill now referred to as simply “the village law.” Immediately prior to voting on the bill last year, a change was made quietly to loosen the state’s requirements for village incorporation. Tri-Lakes Publishing LLC is thrilled to launch this new and exciting community newspaper, the likes of which southwest Missouri has never seen. The premier issue of the Tri-Lakes Tribune constitutes an adventure 14 years in the making for founder and publisher Jennifer Sheppard. Her first newspaper job was with the Ozark County Times where she worked as both a graphic artist and reporter.
