Walker Powell, 91, and his wife Johanna, 82, reminisce about their days working at Silver Dollar City Monday afternoon. There’s a small rest area on old Highway 13, just south of Branson West, dedicated to Ralph Waldo Emerson Powell, the man who was one of the inspirations behind Harold Bell Wright’s novel, The Shepherd of the Hills. Seven-on-seven kicks off

After last week’s seven-on-seven was rained out thanks to the unpredictable Ozark weather, everything fell into place Monday night at Branson High School. Despite the dark storm clouds that continued to roll in, the Tigers, Wolves and Pirates showed up ready to play. After each team got done with their warm-ups, it was finally time to see some action. Annual Shootout in Hollister a great success

Over 40 teams from all over the states of Missouri and Arkansas showed up in Hollister over the past two weekends for the Tri-Lakes Shootout. Todd Mercer, former Coach at Reeds Spring, current Coach at Harrisonville, is the Tri-Lakes Shootout sponsor. He has been doing these shootouts for several years. This years shootouts used five gyms, three at Hollister and two at the Branson RecPlex. The shootout this weekend had 46 girls teams ranging from junior high, junior varsity and varsity levels. Pauline Marie (Combs) Earring, 79, of Forsyth, passed away June 14 at her residence. Pauline was born August 5, 1928 in Kissee Mills to Hattie Bell Combs. A graduate of Forsyth High School in 1946, she worked at several places in the area including over seven years in the Forsyth Court House for the University of Missouri Extension Division. Police investigate cause of infant death

The Branson Police Department stated Monday that an investigation into Saturday morning’s death of a baby at a local motel continues. Police Chief Carroll McCullough said an autopsy was performed, but the cause of death was not apparent, and results are still pending. The infant was three days old. A 911 call was placed just before 6 a.m. Saturday morning, June 14 from the Hillbilly Inn along Highway 76 about a baby that had stopped breathing. Read More →
