Lavone D. Arnold, Cape Fair, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at her residence, at the age of 84. She was born July 20, 1924, in Stone County, the daughter of Williams and Minnie (Morris) Foster. Lavone was a homemaker and had lived in the area since 1984 coming from Maricopa, Calif. New Christian school opens

Tri-Lakes Church announced the opening of Tri-Lakes Christian Academy, a private, Christian school sponsored by Tri-Lakes Church. The new school will begin classes Sept. 2 for the 2008-2009 school year. An appointed advisory board comprised of church members and local civic leaders will oversee school policy and curriculum.
