City welcomes new Finance Director Last Monday evening Lori Helle was introduced at the Monday evening Branson city council meeting. She is a “get em’ up and go” finance director as she reported to work early and has already attended several meetings. Lori comes from Chesterfield and is super qualified for her new position. Jack Alexander James, of Austin, Texas, formerly of Branson, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, at the age of 89. He was born Jan. 24, 1919, in Yale, Okla., the son of Vernon and Sibyl James. After graduating from Branson High School, he attended Drury College in Springfield where he excelled in basketball and baseball and met his wife, Margaret Lee Pahlow. By Ted Biegle Harold Bell Wright was celebrated this year for the first time as The Taney County Commission declared May as Harold Bell Wright Month. Local businessman John Logan announced during the Branson City Alderman meeting this past Monday evening that the Harold Bell Wright celebration is being expanded to the spring of 2009. Joyann Propst, of Reeds Spring, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at her residence, at the age of 75. She was born Jan. 24, 1933, in Maquoketa, Iowa, the daughter of John and Helma (Schnack) Allen. She was united in marriage to Howard Lee Propst Sr., on June 24, 1951, at Wichita Falls, Texas. She had been a resident of the area since 1972, where she and her husband at one time owned and operated a resort.
